Hospitality in Chinese and Kyrgyz style
They have a very comfortable apartment. Not exactly in the traditional Chinese style, but from some elements you can understand that an international couple lives here. On the bookshelf we found textbooks on the Russian language, and the table was covered with delicious pilaf, which Elina prepared for us.
烧烤 shaokao or shashlyk
Mr.Zhao was kind and prepared a whole set of shashlyk for us. There was a feeling that we were outside the city, in nature.
Introducing Shaokao
Shaokao comes in many forms. The most famous is from the far west region of Xinjiang, there you can find cumin-dusted lamb skewers, but in other areas of the country have taken Xinjiang BBQ and made it their own. In Sichuan you can find less lamb and more chicken parts and vegetables. We ate lamb, beef, chicken and mushroom chuan! The skewers are always cooked in small batches and served right off the grill.Made with 4 to 5 pieces of lamb, the skewers are only about 5 inches long, and the meat is no bigger than the thickness of your thumb.
